Llanfihangel ar Arth

Dydy pentref Llanfihangel-ar-arth ddim yn ffitio i mewn yn dda i gynlluniau awdurdodau fel Cyngor Sir Caerfyrddin. Caewyd yr ysgol leol yn 2003 gan greu Ysgol Ardal ganolog. Daeth pwl bach o ddigalondid i’r pentre ac, o fewn blwyddyn, yr oedd y siop leol a Swyddfa’r Post hefyd wedi cau tra roedd y Cyngor yn brysur roi caniatad cynllunio i archfarchnadoedd a siopau mawr. Erbyn hyn y mae sôn y bydd canoli gwasanaethau iechyd hefyd yn bellach i ffwrdd o gymunedau lleol. “Moderneiddio� yw’r gair am dynnu i ffwrdd ein hawliau fel cymuned, ac maen nhw’n hoffi ein portreadu fel pobl sy’n byw yn y gorffennol.

Arwydd i’r gwrthwyneb yw’r wefan hon – arwydd o’n hewyllys i fyw ac i arddel cyfryngau’r ganrif newydd. Daeth degau o bobl y pentre i Gyfarfod Cyhoeddus i ffurfio Cymdeithas Neuadd yr Ysgol i droi Neuadd yr Ysgol yn ganolfan fywiog i’r gymuned leol gyda phwyslais ar weithgareddau i bobl ifainc, ac y mae’r Pwyllgor Cae Chwarae’n cyfrannu at yr un nod. Diolchwn am bob cefnogaeth a chyllid, ond datganwn fod pobl y pentre’n benderfynol na bydd eu cymuned yn marw.

Erbyn hyn, mae’r gweithgareddau yn Neuadd yr Ysgol yn cynnwys –

• Clwb Gwerin bywiog – gyda sesiynau rheolaidd dawnsio gwerin, dysgu offerynnau, llenydda, cerfio pren ac ati.

• Clwb Technoleg Gwybodaeth
• Clwb Gwaith Cartref
• Adran o’r Urdd
• Ysgol Sul
• Dosbarthiadau amrywiol
• Dramau a Chlwb Drama
• Eisteddfod
• Cyngherddau
• Clwb Dysgu Cymraeg – gyda phobl sy wedi symud i’r Ardal yn gefnogol iawn i’r gwaith.

Ac ar y wefan hon, fe gewch ddyddiadur a manylion am bopeth sydd ymlaen – a rhyw flas o’r holl weithgarwch sy wedi bod yn yr adroddiadau, hanesion a lluniau.

Ond, bydd y wefan hon yn tyfu i fod yn fwy na dyddiadur canolfan yn unig. Trwy gyfrwng y wefan, gobeithiwn y bydd pentrefwyr ac eraill sy’n dod atom yn gallu mynegi eu hunain, ffrwyth eu gwaith a’u gobeithion am y dyfodol.

Llanfihangel ar Arth village does not fit in with the plans of authorities such as Carmarthen County Coucil. The local school was closed in 2003 creating a central Area School. There was an air of sombreness in the village and within a year the local shop and Post Office had also closed, whilst the council was busy granting planning rights to large superstores. Presently, there’s even talk of centralising health services taking it further away from the local community. “Modernisation” is the term for taking the rights of our community away from us and they wish to portray us as people who live in the past.

This website shows the opposite - it is a sign of our will to live and our claim on the new century’s technology. Tens of people attended a public meeting to form the School Hall Society and to renovate the School Hall into a lively centre for the local community with emphasis on activities for young people, and the Playing Field Committee contribute in the same way. We wish to thank everyone for their support and the funds received, but we state that the people of the village are determined that their community will not die.

At present, these activities are offered in the School Hall:

• History Club - which have produced a historical map
• Folk Club - including folk dancing club, wood carving club, poetry club and more
• Information Technology Club
• Home Work Club
• Youth Club with the Urdd
• Sunday School
• Drama Club and touring dramas
• Eisteddfod
• Concerts
• Welsh Learners Club - people who have moved into the area are very supportive of the work.

On the website there will be a diary and details of all events and reports, stories and pictures as a little taster of the activities offered. But, this website will grow to be more than just a diary. Through the website, we hope that villagers and others will be able to express themselves, show their hard work and give suggestions for the future.
